Assessment is the process of evaluating knowledge, performance, quality, readiness, or results against defined criteria.

Assessment is a planning concept used to understand who is affected by a change and how the change alters work, expectations, systems, or responsibilities. In Change Management, this analysis guides communication, training, sponsorship, and support decisions.

Context & Usage

Instructional designers use assessments to measure learning outcomes, while project and documentation teams use them to judge effectiveness, compliance, risk, or improvement needs.

It is used during planning to understand affected audiences, work impacts, concerns, communication needs, training needs, and adoption risks.
