Access Vector Glossary Definition

Term Access Vector
Definition

Access Vector is an older vulnerability-scoring metric that describes the access path or network proximity an attacker needs to exploit a vulnerability.

Context & Usage

Access Vector appears in older vulnerability-scoring material and should not be treated as identical to Attack Vector. In CVSS discussions, it describes the access proximity needed to exploit a vulnerability, while attack-vector language is often used more broadly in threat and vulnerability reporting.
