Crashing is a schedule-compression technique that adds resources or cost to shorten activity duration.

Context & Usage

It is useful only when additional resources can realistically reduce time and the tradeoff is acceptable.

Project managers, sponsors, and project-controls staff use this concept in budget reviews, performance reporting, forecasting, and variance conversations.
