Third-Generation Wireless (3G) is a Telecommunications wireless concept used to provide radio, cellular, mobile, or fixed wireless service across licensed or shared spectrum.

Wireless engineers use this concept when planning coverage, capacity, handover behavior, roaming, spectrum use, and radio access network performance.
