RSS Feed Glossary Definition

An RSS feed is a structured web feed that lets users or systems receive updates from a website in a machine-readable format.

Documentation and knowledge sites may use RSS to publish release notes, news, blog updates, or content-change notifications. RSS is related to XML and web syndication rather than being a synonym for either.
